A technical challenge made of a million fowers laid by hundreds of florists on the Grand Place of Brussels from 15 to 19 August 2012

A magnificent multicoloured carpet that you can admire from the balcony of the City Hall, which is especially open to the public. The theme for 2012 is Africa.

Flowers offer a rich palette of bright and glimmering colours that suprisingly resists the sun's rays and heat because they are placed on a layer of turf and are packed so tightly that the wind won't blow them away.

    Don't miss this spectacle!

The event takes place every two years (on even years).

This monumental artwork is an ephemeral and original creation and requires month of preparation. It is put into place in only one day, when hundreds of florists follow a meticulous plan and place each of the begonias and dahlias that comprise this gigantic jigsaw.

Panoramic visit from 9am to 11pm - €3. Children under 12 years have free access to the balcony of the City Hall.

The plan of the flower carpet is available at the BI-TC - Brussels Information and Tourist Office at the City Hall on the Grand Place.
